Gaborone is the easygoing capital of Botswana. Reaching 15 km from east to west, it’s small, but modern, clean and safe. That said, it is one of the fastest growing cities in Africa and acts as a gateway into Botswana from South Africa. Not much of a tourist attraction, the city does play host to travellers who are en route to spend time in the country’s abundant game areas.
Botswana is a diverse region and so it is possible to travel there any time of year, it really just depends on the reason for your visit. If you are booking a flight from Nigeria to Gaborone because you want to spend time in the Delta, between June and September is the peak season. July to October is the most expensive time of year and the busiest safari period, so finding cheap flights then can be tricky.
Transport from airport to city:
Sir Seretse Khama international airport is only 14 km from the city centre. It’s best to enquire with your hotel about shuttle services. You can also take a taxi or rent a car from Avis, Imperial, Budget or Tempest.
